When Venture Kits was born

Hello, old friends and new.

Welcome to the Venture Kits blog. In this space, I’ll keep you guys updated about what we are up to, share interesting tidbits from the world of entrepreneurship, and offer an inside look at what it’s like to start a company.

Before we go much further, I should tell you a little about myself (although you can check my bio on our homepage). My name is Leslie. I'm the Founder & CEO of Venture Kits. I’m originally from Costa Rica (the happiest country on earth!), but live in Seattle, WA with my husband Micah and my baby girl Dora.

When Dora was born, I got this really great piece of advice from a good friend: teach your kids by example. Choose as you want them to choose. Act as you want them to act. Be who you want them to be.

I want Dora to follow her dreams, be confident, and not be afraid of trying new things. To teach her by example, I must follow my dream, muster up my confidence, and face my fears.

And so, I started Venture Kits when Dora was only 3 months old. It started off as a project to occupy my time while she napped: I set myself the goal of creating a fun game that would teach kids how to negotiate.  My thinking evolved quickly, and one day it turned into Venture Kits… after which time my little pet project quickly escalated to a full-blown start up. But more on that later.

I want Dora to love what she does.

I love working on Venture Kits.
